Recently, Eddie from Braintree dropped by to visit us while he was in Auckland. Braintree is a subsidiary of Paypal, a payment system that helps companies small and large, accept, process, and split payments. We had a quick chat to Eddie about his role at Braintree and how Braintree helps hoteliers.
Tell us a bit about yourself
I’m originally from Montana, USA, I grew up in small town of 1000 people, and there were only 42 kids at my high school. I have 3 kids, Troy, Jett, Dylan, and another one on the way, his name is Rush! My kids have recently gotten me back into comics, and I’ve been enjoying reading them.
What does your role encompass?
I am mid level executive in sales for Braintree. I cover NZ, AUS and APAC regions.
Why is Braintree important for the hotel industry?
We are a simple and elegant solution for the payment industry. We make the payment experience easier for our customer. With hoteliers, we help with their security level around PCI compliance, and we also protect against fraud, and help with reconciliation and funding. People might have the perception that the payment industry is archaic and hard to manage, but that is where Braintree comes in. We try to make the experience better and easier, and show people exactly how well the payment industry can be done.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I like that I have the same excitement walking in the door today, as I did on the first day. Braintree has the feel of an Entrepreneurial field, and you are able to tackle big progress everyday. I also love working with businesses. Being able to consult and understand the needs and pain points of a business, means we can figure out exactly how to help them. It is also great to be able to engage with customers, see their business models, and help them to find a solution.
If you could be a superhero, who would you be and why?
I like fast things, so naturally, I’d be The Flash. Flash is just one of those characters that is such a cool person! He has a hidden agenda that you don’t know about.
