5 simple tips to improve your website ranking on search engine platforms
Improving your ranking with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) will help direct organic traffic to your website when they are searching for accommodation. SEo is the process of growing your website’s visibility and traffic through organic (free) search engine results. There are a few simple ways you can make sure your website is optimized for search engines.
We share the 5 simple ways to improve your website for SEO
1. Create detailed Meta titles for each page
You can set a Meta title and description for each page of your website. When you hover over a tab in your browser, you will be able to see the title for the page. While the description isn’t shown, it is still important for search engines in determining your ranking. Google uses both the title and description in ranking your site.
Tip: Instead of naming your homepage Home, you can name it your property name and location e.g. Preno Hotel Auckland
2. Reduce page load time
It’s important that your website pages don’t take too long to load. Page-loading speed affects your website ranking and can also cause people to click away if your website doesn’t load quickly. You should also have your website optimized for mobile, as more people are using multiple devices to conduct their research.
Tip: Optimize your website images using sites like this to optimize images, and use tools like Test My Site to check how mobile-friendly your site is.
3. Make sure there are no broken links
If you have links added on your site so that guests can explore other information portals, make sure they are all working. Having a large number of broken links on your site signals to Google that your site is old and neglected, which can impact your site ranking on search engines.
Tip: You can use sites such as Google Search Console to help check for broken links.
4. Site layout and navigation
Make sure your website has a clear navigation and layout. If visitors can find what they are looking for quickly and easily, they are more likely to spend more time on your website. When visitors spend more time on your site and view multiple pages, it can encourage them to come back and visit your site again. These repeat visits can help improve your ranking. It also allows search engines to more easily assess the relevant content on your website, so that they show the best results for the search query.
Tip: Have your website navigate from left to right, starting with the most important page tab and ending with a contact us page. This style of navigation is intuitive and will help people find what they want easily.
5. Optimise for keywords
Improve your search ranking by writing informational content related to your business. Select a focus keyword and include it in all the key areas of your content. Supplement these with descriptive meta titles and descriptions, which will help with your Google ranking.
Tip: Tell a story, whether it’s about your property or surrounding attractions, personalize it with your own memories or experiences. Include a call-to-action at the end that prompts people to book a stay, or experience your region.
